September 2026 GPA Match Report
We had 57 shooters come to our September 26th Galactic Pistol Alliance match at MCRC (we had 63 sign ups). As we announced, this match was much more challenging than our August match with more props, longer distances, more rounds and more non threats. No shooters were below the initial par time of 82.1 seconds.
We donated all match proceeds and any additional contributions that were made to Eric Jackson’s family. The total amount was over $2,400 and it was presented to Ryan at Palmetto Gun Club where the Eric Jackson Memorial USPSA Match (117 shooters!) was held on Saturday.
Winners of each class/division (from Practiscore):
High Full Size Optics (37 shooters): Eric Sczesny (also High Platinum [MASTER LEVEL] and High Veteran (7 shooters))

High Military (7 shooters): Lance Sczesny (FSO)
7 Veterans shot this match (Many thanks for your service to our country!)
Most Accurate: John Edens (PCC), down 9 for the match, excellent. (Most Accurate are shooters that did not hit a non-threat target on any stage). 35 shooters (61% of all of our total) made the Most Accurate list.
Setup Crew: Don Rawls, Mike Phillips and John Edens. We can always use setup help. This month’s Two-Gun Match has some prop heavy stages.
There is an incentive program where MCRC members that serve as SO’s AND help setup get $50 off their MCRC yearly membership dues for every 4 hours of SO AND setup help. See me for details.
Many thanks to our local MCRC Safety Officers (our match goal is one local MCRC SO per squad) and all the other Safety Officers and Scorekeepers. If you are an SO in IDPA or USPSA, you are qualified to run shooters in our match.
The GPA non-official match par time was 82.1 seconds. No shooters were below the par time. The official classifications have been posted on members GPA account pages per Chuck Limpert.

GPA NEWS and UPDATES: Planning continues for the GPA Sanctioned Match to be held at Skip J Range in Anderson, SC, next year. The match will be the “Southeast Regional GPA Championship” with plans to accommodate 180 shooters. The date is September 24-25, 2027. This is exciting news and we will keep everyone posted as we move forward and get more details worked out with GPA headquarters.
Stage winners:
Stage 1, “Nostromo” [designed by PCC shooter John Edens, 22 rounds, targets in the open and 2 positions of cover, required some USPSA like movement to get it done] Eric Sczesny, FSO, 18.52 seconds, 1 shooter was below par time of 19.84 seconds.
Stage 2, “District 9” [24 rounds, 3 steel poppers, long distance length of bay shots (18 yards)] John Edens, PCC, 17.86 seconds, 1 shooter was below par time of 18.03 seconds.
Stage 3, “The Boonta Eve Classic” [24 rounds, shoot while seated in the VW, exit car and retrieve mags from mailbox, move down the DNP line to shoot the remaining targets and 2 static steels] Eric Sczesny, FSO, 21.02 seconds, no shooters were below par time of 18.03 seconds.
Stage 4, “Chalmun’s Spaceport Cantina” [15 rounds, no reload required, shoot while seated strong hand only, scoring was limited] John Edens, PCC, 10.11 seconds, 1 shooter was below par time of 13.80 seconds.
Stage 5, “The Slaughtered Lamb” [15 rounds, start in CPR position on dummy, shoot stage weak hand while touching dummy, no reload required]: Chris Haigh, FSO, 18.12 seconds, no shooters were below par time of 12.30 seconds. I let a few shooters on my squad shoot the stage freestyle after the match (not for score) and no one was below the par time, so that par time estimate was too low.
September Stage Breakdown: “Nostromo”
Won by Eric Sczesny, FSO. 8 shooters hit a non-threat (there were 4 shots involving close non threats) on the stage. 7 shooters had Procedural Errors. Two shooters, Jamie Elks and Michael Dawson, shot the stage perfect (no points down and no penalty). Take a look at the stage below:

On October 24th GPA at MCRC will host a Two-Gun Match (shotgun and pistol). Registration will open this week on Practiscore. Sign up in Semi-Auto Shotgun division or Pump Action Shotgun division. The 4 stages will be held in the 5 Cooper Bays and the stages and match details will be posted on the sign-up page. We will have 4 squads of 12 shooters each for this match.
We post these reports in different locations throughout the year. Locations (usually 2 different ones a month) are on the Mid Carolina Rifle Club website, the Mid Carolina Rifle Club Facebook page, our GPA at MCRC Facebook page, and e-mailed out via our Mailchimp account.
