June Tactical Match Report

June 2025 Tactical Wildcat Match Report

We had 24 shooters come to our June 28th Tactical Match at MCRC. The weather was clear; temps climbed into the 90’s. We ran 4 stages, Outlaw style 2-Gun and 3-Gun, with no running between the bays. The total round count was around 200, half of that being handgun and the other half Pistol Caliber Carbine, and 4 rounds with the shotgun. Thanks everyone for attending our match. If you have not shot with us before, I personally invite you to come out and try it. Pinpoint accuracy is not required; safety is priority #1 and I have never heard from any shooters that our stages were not fun and challenging. New shooters – after a few matches your confidence will grow, your accuracy will improve, and you will be able to handle and reload your gun in a safe manner.

High Match Scores (from Practiscore):

1st place: Adam Williams, compact optics.

2nd place: Tyler Rocha, full size optics.

3rd place: Jamie Elks, full size optics.

June Stage Breakdown:

Stage 3, “The Masters” designed by Don Rawls

Tyler won the stage; he was 9 down and his final time was 71.23.

Take a look at it below on paper and compare it to the video of me shooting the stage (note: much room for personal shooting improvement on my part and some slight changes were made when the stage was built due to bay size restrictions). My Safety Officer was Brent Spigner, he drives up from Charleston every month to shoot our match. Many thanks to Brent.

Next IDPA match – please join us for the “July IDPA at MCRC Match” that we are hosting on July 26th, 2025. Announcement will be made using our usual methods of Practiscore and our mail chimp e-mail and Facebook page, IDPA at MCRC. We are going to be running the 5 by 5 Classifier as one of our stages. The other 3 or 4 will not be too complex.

Next “Tactical Multi Gun Match” will be held on August 23rd. This will be our annual BUG Friendly match, with shorter target distances and less rounds per stage.

Upcoming: No feedback on the offer of holding Introduction to IDPA classes at the range, so we will shelf that idea for now. I met with MCRC CRO Clay and we discussed using the Silhouette Bays for a 3-Gun stage (rifle calibers and 100 yard shots) in the fall when it cools off. I have been told by others that the way to grow the match is by allowing rifle calibers. Rifle calibers are not allowed in the Cooper bays, so we will have to make use of other bays at MCRC and this will require Board approval.
