The South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS) held one of its “irregularly scheduled” “Fifth Saturday” matches on July 29, 2023, in the Cooper Pistol Bays at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club.
We had 9 shooters brave a threatening sky to come out and shoot 4 stages based on actual gunfights from the Old West. The threatened rain held off, except for some light “sprinkles” early in the 3rd stage that didn’t last long, and we were able to get all 4 stages in. The group included a new shooter who goes by the moniker “James”, pending the adoption of a new cowboy alias, and who, even without a cowboy alter ego, shot very well — we hope he will continue to come out and shoot with us.
There was 1 clean shooter for the match — Congrats to Sgt Henry for some accurate pistol work with his six-shooter.
