Our local NCOWS posse, the South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS) recently held one of its regularly scheduled “2nd Sunday” Matches on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in the Cooper Pistol Bays at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club (MCRC). There were a total of nine (9) participants (8 Shooters), including 1 Cowgirl and 1 set-up/break-down helper. The posse was blessed with absolutely beautiful “shootin’ weather” which helped make for a wonderful match. There was only 1 cowboy who shot the entire match (including Bonus stage) clean – congrats to Kansas Kid on shooting clean in his first full match using his own guns. And a special shout-out to SGT Henry, for shooting the main match clean and only having 1 miss on the Bonus Stage — that’s a “Dagnabbit” if ever I’ve heard of one!

Aiken Wild West Festival: The annual Aiken Wild West Festival will be held the first weekend of November — Saturday, Nov. 1 and Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 — at the Battle of Aiken Park, 1210 Powell Pond Rd., Aiken, SC 29801. This is a premiere event in which our posse plays a major role, so all are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day or two of Old West history. Hope to see you there.
