The South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS), our local NCOWS-affiliated posse, held its last match of 2022 on the 5th Saturday of December, at the Mid Carolina Gun Club. Or perhaps I should say “tried to hold our last match.”
While much like the previous regularly scheduled “2nd Sunday” match for December, the 12/31 match was held under the threat of rain, but the 6 shooters and 1 observer (who did get to shoot a pistol string on the 1st stage) participating in the New Year’s Eve Day match weren’t as lucky as the last time, and the match was hastily concluded as the rain started to fall shortly after completion of the first stage.
So, it looks like we’re all going to get a re-shoot of the 5th Saturday December match next weekend, when SCOWS will hold its first match of 2023 — our regularly scheduled January 2nd Saturday Match — on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Registration starts at 0830, and lead will start flying downrange at 0945ish, following the range safety briefing.
