June 2026 Galactic Pistol Alliance Report

June 2026 GPA Match Report

We had 36 shooters come to our June 27th Galactic Pistol Alliance match at MCRC. This match continued our summer pattern of easy to build – easy to tear down stages, but they were challenging (no shooter was below the initial par time, but I do think that Chuck may have added a second or 2 upon his review at GPA headquarters). We had 42 signed up but the extreme heat and humidity likely caused a few dropouts. The bays were okay on Saturday but had some washout; it poured on us Friday. We were done shooting about 1 o’clock.

Winners of each class/division (from Practiscore):

High Full Size Optics (21 shooters): Eric Sczesny (also High Overall, High Platinum and High Veteran)

High Full Size Iron Sights (7 shooters): Gerald Douglas

High Compact Optics (1 shooter): Jonney Grunnet

High Compact Iron Sights (1 shooter): John Champoux

High Limited Capacity Iron Sights (1 shooter): Richard Hart

High Pistol Caliber Carbine* (4 shooters): Eric Jackson (*Division not classified by GPA)

High Rimfire* (1 shooter): Phillip Askins (*Division not classified by GPA)

High Gold: Robert Bradley (FSO) [EXPERT LEVEL]

High Silver: Will Etu (FSO) [SHARPSHOOTER LEVEL]

High Bronze: Aaron McCullough (FSI) [MARKSMAN LEVEL]

High Pew-Pewter: Trinh Nguyen (FSO) (Also High Military) [NOVICE LEVEL]

High Senior: Jason Kriethe (FSO)

High Super Senior: Buddy Brasington (FSI)

High Law Enforcement: Shawn Morley (FSO)

High Youth: Steven Phillips (FSO)

7 Veterans shot this match (Many thanks for your service to our country!)

No Lady Shooters were at this match (July and August matches are ladies shoot for free if they mention this report!)

Most Accurate: Eric Sczesny, down 17 for the match, excellent. (Most Accurate are shooters that did not hit a non-threat target on any stage). 23 shooters (64% of all of our total) made the Most Accurate list. An adjustment will be made on our July stages to tighten up some non threats.

Setup Crew: Don Rawls, Marc Richman and John Edens. If you enjoy our sport and shooting our match, it is absolutely the best and easiest way to give back. Set aside a Friday afternoon and lend a hand. We 3 (MD, AMD and John Edens) were able to get the stages built and get out on a reasonable time on Friday due to the toned down, simplified stages. This will continue into July and August matches. Starting September when the temps come down, we plan on going all out with props, doors, car, boat, moving targets and mucho steel. We won’t be able to accomplish this without help or without making some changes in the way we do things, like Saturday morning setup.

There is an incentive program we were just made aware of where MCRC members that serve as SO’s AND help setup get $50 off their MCRC yearly membership dues for every 4 hours of SO AND setup help. See me for details.

Many thanks to our local MCRC Safety Officers (our match goal is one local MCRC SO per squad) and all the other Safety Officers and Scorekeepers. If you are an SO in IDPA or USPSA, you are qualified to run shooters in our match.

The GPA non-official match par time was 99 seconds, it appeared Chuck may have added a second or two upon his review at GPA headquarters. Even after the addition, no shooter was below the par time.  The official classifications have been posted on members GPA account pages per Chuck Limpert.

Galactic Pistol Alliance news:

We encourage everyone to join GPA. It’s free for 1 year and you get a member number (and classification if you shoot our match) right away. Go to the Galactic Pistol Alliance website https://galacticpistolalliance.com/ for more info. We had 21 GPA shooters provide membership numbers at this match, many thanks to them for showing our report viewers that GPA is a legitimate shooting organization.

Stage winners:

Stage 1, “Aliens” [23 rounds, push over barrel to view most of stage, 2 positions of cover, shoot steel aliens off the heads of your shipmates] Eric Sczesny, FSO, 18.22 seconds, 2 were below par time of 20.55 seconds.

Stage 2, “Interstellar” [23 rounds, 2 cover positions, shooting while on the move and two drop turners moving simultaneously] Eric Sczesny, FSO, 18.68 seconds, 1 was below par time of 20.04 seconds.

Stage 3, “Lost In Space” [24 rounds, unloaded remote start on a table, 2 cover positions that had to be backed into] Eric Jackson, PCC, 18.80 seconds, no shooters were below par time of 17.70 seconds.

Stage 4, “A Space Odyssey” [24 rounds, unloaded remote start, begin in and shoot while seated in a wheelchair before moving to a single POC] Alex Tipton, FSO, 23.21 seconds, none were below par time of 21.25 seconds.

Stage 5, “Armageddon” [24 rounds, seated start with menu in hand, shoot through a dirty window screen, 3 hits per target required, 2 POC’s]: Eric Sczesny, FSO, 15.22 seconds, 2 were below par time of 17.44 seconds.

June Stage Breakdown: “Interstellar”

This stage had 2 targets to be shot while moving, some tight non-threats, 2 drop turners that came down simultaneously, 23 rounds total and 3 non threats.

Take a look at it below and see how you would approach the stage. This was a stage that was built as designed and did not require any last minute layout changes. I’ve included a video of me shooting the stage, I finished 18th of 36, so right in the middle. 8 shooters hit a non threat on the stage, it basically created a lot of the Most Accurate list. 2 shooters had Procedural Errors.
