July 2022 presented the cowboy action shooters an extra weekend match in which to get to the range and enjoy a match, and the South Carolina Old West Shootists (SCOWS) were only too happy to oblige, holding one of their irregularly scheduled “5th Saturday” matches on July 30, 2022, in the Cooper Pistol Bays at the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club. It was hot, but (almost) bearable, and we were able to shoot all 4 main stages, which were based on events that occurred in the Old West during the mid to late 19th Century, and a bonus stage — the infamous “Cut Tuco’s Rope” challenge — which really tested shooters’ proficiency with their rifles.
Nine (9) shooters braved the heat and humidity, including two seasoned SASS shooters, Swift Stoney and Kid Nama, who joined us for their first NCOWS shoot. We also had two non-shooting spectators who we swear we’re going to get to shoot a stage or two one of these days.
There was one clean shooter for the match. Congrats to Sgt. Henry!
