USPSA hosts Toys for Tots

The second weekend in November, MCRC USPSA shooters hosted the annual Thompson-Daugherty Toys for Tots Charity match.  It is named the Thompson-Daugherty Memorial match in honor of two MCRC members who were Marine Corp vets & who supported this charity event for years. First, a huge thanks to MCRC volunteers who helped with setup for the Toys for Tots match and to helped during the match in exchange for dues credit.  We especially want to thank those working several days: Nelson Thompson, Glenn Eagle, Wayne Corley, Chris Payeur, Aaron Banks, Derrick Hernandez, Katharine Presty and Steve Tuel.

We had 107 shooters at the Match. We had plenty of rain on the setup days, but clear weather on the shooting days: A perfect day for shooting.  Jason Karsedt from Columbia was the top shooter in Open Division.  Dewey Hutson from Augusta GA was the winner in Limited Division.  Ike Starnes from Cornelius NC was the top shooter in PCC Division. Jason Karsedt shot a second day and was also the high shooter in Single Stack Division.  Donovan Stettner from Easley SC was the top shooter in Carry Optics Division.

IDPA competitors provided beverage and food sales during the event to raise money for a specialized equipment they plan to buy & donated excess money raised to Toys for Tots.

We donated a van full of toys and $3521 to the Marine Corp to cheer up Christmas for children in the Midlands.  We will continue to collect Toys and cash or checks until the December meeting.
