October Tactical Multi-Gun Match Report

October 2025 Tactical Match Report

We had 17 shooters come to our October 25th match, the 5th Tactical Match we hosted this year. Weather was clear and it made it up to 70 degrees. 4 Multi-Gun wildcat (non-affiliated) style stages were held in the Cooper Bays. We had 2 squads. Thanks, shooters, for attending our match. If you enjoyed it, tell folks about it, and let’s see if we can get our participation levels up.

Winners of each pistol class and their division (from Practiscore):

High Full Size Optics: Zack Coleman. Also Overall High Score.

2nd Overall: Matt Stuggart, FSO

3rd Overall: Chris Cunningham, FSO

High Compact Irons: John Slavens

High Compact Optic: George Siokos

High Full-Size Irons: Brad Doan

Most Accurate: Tim Isaac, down 28 for the match, excellent. (Most Accurate are shooters that did not hit a non-threat target on any stage). 11 shooters made the Most Accurate list.

Setup Crew: Match Directors, Geraldo Cruzado, Chris Cunningham. Thank you to our MCRC Safety Officer and Scorekeeper crew. Jamie Elks has been SO’ing for us and not shooting due to his finger injury. He says he will resume shooting this month, it will be great to have him back 100%.

Match Breakdown: We had 1 Lady, 10 Seniors, 5 Military/Veterans/LE. Full Size Optics division had 12 shooters. One shooter was new.

Stage descriptions and winners:

Stage 1, Witches Brew [2 Gun stage, handgun portion shooting witches with 3 rounds each, PCC portion shot using mini targets and shot while prone, including a mini drop turner]: Zack Coleman, 47.22 seconds, 1 down.

Stage 2, Halloween Cruiser [2 Gun stage, start in car with gloveboxed handgun, engage 8 targets while seated in car, exit car for 3 more, then retrieve cruiser safe shotgun from passenger front seat to shoot 4 rounds at steel through trap door/portal] Zack Coleman, 36.40, 2 down.

Stage 3, Zombieland [2 Gun stage, start with handgun, drop weighted gym bag onto bobber activator, perform mandatory reload, then 17 rounds PCC through the window, including mini drop turner] Brad Doan, 45.64, 0 down. He shot the only perfect stage all day, with zero down and zero penalty. Three shooters hit a non-threat and one shooter had a procedural penalty for not reloading. I’ve included a stage diagram for the stage and a video. A few things: you can see how the stage was planned to be built in the diagram, and on the video see how it had to be changed when built. This happens sometimes (well, about half the time) when designs on paper are larger in scheme than the bay(s) allow, especially when trying to design a prop-heavy two- or three-gun stage in the Cooper pistol bays. I don’t know if Roy Mullis reads these reports but thank you sir for keeping our sandy bays useable by performing the necessary grader work. He has widened and deepened each one of the bays. The construction of the houses on the parcel adjacent to Bay 6 continues and they are nearing completion. See enclosed map.

Stage 4 and 5, Day at the Beach, Part 1 and 2 [2 Gun stage, started with handgun in Bay 5, included a nasty 4 round disappearing target shot while seated, run into and finish in Bay 4 PCC on a bunch of mini targets from 2 cover positions]: John Slavens, 79.98, 15 down.

The Multi-Gun stages used handguns, pistol caliber carbines, and a shotgun. Shooters were allowed to bring their own shotguns, either pump action or autoloader. We provided pistol caliber carbines and a shotgun for any shooters that needed these. We also provided all of the shotgun ammo.

Portions of these stages were run “GPA” style. (“Galactic Pistol Alliance”, details are available on GPA’s website). We announced at this match that our plan is to move into this match format for 2026, and it will replace our current IDPA affiliation. We will still host 2 of the Tactical Multi-Gun Matches, in April and October, and the other 9 matches in 2026 will be GPA matches.

Next IDPA match will be Saturday November 22nd, 2025. This will be our annual Toys for Tots fundraiser match; all proceeds are going to that charity. Marc and Geraldo will be out, so I will need help with setup on Friday the 21st. Details forthcoming via our usual methods, Practiscore, MailChimp, and our Facebook Page, IDPA At MCRC.

Comments are appreciated (about anything from stage design to the reporting of results) below if you are viewing this on our Facebook page IDPA at MCRC. Or at our e-mail address idpaatmcrc@gmail.com.
